Get Focused!

Quote for the day: In life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is: hit the line hard. - Theodore Roosevelt

How fitting a quote is that for Football Sunday, eh?

So, my critique groupie pal, Tim is a runner. He writes non-fiction and is currently writing pieces about running. He is an avid runner, bordering on obsessed and addicted if you ask me (just kidding Tim!) but it's what he does, what he teaches and who he is: he is dedicated and passionate about it.

The work he brings to the group for critique is inspirational, uplifting and motivating. To the point that the non-runners of the group (i.e. the rest of us) almost feel like getting up and running laps around the room. I said ALMOST.

Tim writes about the focus it takes to stay dedicated and determined on your goal. And as I read his words, I realize I can apply them to all aspects of life. To writing, raising children or household chores. His words apply to life. Yours, his, mine.

So tell me, how do you stay focused? What keeps you dedicated or motivated to complete the task at hand? Please leave comments! I would love to hear from you!

  1. Lisa, pretty cool company that you keep! Tim is an accomplished runner, and his writing partner is too. (Coincidentally, I was just reading about Adam in Runner's World a few days ago, and I think he wife Kara was featured in that mag recently, too.)

How do I stay focused? Trickery, of course!

The first few minutes are the hardest. Embrace that. Use that knowledge. I know that if I can trick myself into just getting started - "I'll just read one page of Pharmacology" or "I'll just run 3 miles" - that I ALWAYS get into a groove and, whatever it is, it ALWAYS gets easier.

    AKA Galileo's concept of inertia.
AKA Newton's First Law of Motion.

    Best wishes!

  2. And to top it off, Tim and I found out we graduated together and didn't even know it. Funny, huh!

Thanks for the tips. Trickery works on all ages too!

Take care Joel. Thanks for the comment.

  3. Make sure you have realistic earning expectations before you decide to get into multi-level marketing. Income generation and success is not as fruitful as many multi-level marketing companies make you believe. Statistically, only one out of 100 multi-level marketing representatives make any money or are successful. Furthermore, in the MLM world there are many shady business practices and scams, so be careful.play bazaar
